Special Interest Group: Serving All Students: Equity, Access, Inclusion and Diversity in Higher Education
WSCUC institutions are committed to equity, inclusion, access and diversity. Student bodies, faculty, and staff throughout the region are keeping pace with the world around us and are becoming more diverse. Our institutions must make intentional and systemic efforts to integrate diversity and inclusion as we work to improve institutional effectiveness. This SIG discussion will be guided by WSCUC’s Equity and Inclusion Policy, and will provide an opportunity for institutions to collaborate and brainstorm creative solutions to the unique challenges we face on our campuses. We will examine the utility of defining diversity, strategies for supporting diversity and inclusion, and collaborate on building a community of support. This conversation will be guided by Marguerite Bonous-Hammarth, Executive Director for the Office of Inclusive Excellence at the University of California, Irvine, Joe Slowensky, Vice Provost for Institutional Effectiveness and Faculty Affairs at Chapman University, and Annabelle Goodwin, Director of Equity and Inclusion and Professor of Marriage and Family Therapy at Northcentral University. We are looking forward to this inaugural meeting as we begin to build community concerned with improving institutions for all students.
